One of the biggest selling points for Chromebooks in the past and today is their cost. You can get a really good Chromebook for just $199. However today, Google has announced that they’ve been working with new partners to lower that price even further and today we’ve got two new Chromebooks available for just $149.
These two machines come from Haier and Hisense. Both have 11.6″ inch displays and run on top of the Rockchip RK3288 processor with 2GB of RAM. Obviously they are both low end, but that’s what they are designed for. The Haier machine claims 10 hours of battery while the Hisense claims 8.5. Both devices are available for pre-order at the links below starting today.
- Pre-order the Haier Chromebook 11 HR-116R From Amazon
- Pre-order the Hisense Chromebook C11 From Wal-Mart
Alongside that announcement, Google also announced that new models from their current partners including Acer, AOPEN, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and LG would be coming soon along with devices from new partners like TRUE, XOLO, and Nexian.
One of the first new Chromebooks is the ASUS Chromebook Flip. This machine is made completely out of metal with a thin and light design. The screen flips around just like the Lenovo N20 Chromebook and has a touch screen for gaming apps and educational apps.
