Journey on the PlayStation 3 stands out as one of the most beautiful, engaging games that I played last generation. Even though it was a short playthrough, it left a huge impact on me. Journey is the perfect example of a game that could only benefit from a re-release on a more powerful console, and it seems that Sony agrees.
Previously announced last year at gamescom, Journey has recently been confirmed to be coming to the PlayStation 4 this summer. There won’t be any dramatic changes to the game, but running at 1080p/60fps will be a huge improvement.
In addition to the PlayStation Network release, Journey will be getting a physical release in the form of the Journey Collector’s Edition. It will include Journey alongside thatgamecompany’s previous games flOw and Flower.
If you bought the PS3 version of Journey on PlayStation Network already, you don’t have to worry about shelling out the extra money. Journey on PS4 will have cross-buy support, so your copy will be free to download at launch.
I for one am happy that one of my favorite games is getting more attention for the next generation. Now, those who may have skipped out on the PlayStation 3 last-gen can enjoy Journey as well. In the meantime, you can check out this teaser for Journey running at 60fps (in Chrome).
