Nexus 9 OTA Rolling Out For Android 5.1.1… Oh Wait, It’s 5.0.2

The Nexus 9 has been waiting weeks for any sign of a new update, but so far we’ve gotten nothing. Today however, we’ve finally got an OTA heading out, but it’s not what you’ve been expecting or hoping.

Google is currently pushing out an OTA to Android 5.0.2 rather than the far more current 5.1.1. The Nexus 9 has been sitting on Android 5.0.1 since just after release and owners have eagerly been awaiting the newer versions of Android.

This OTA comes in at 23MB in size and has the build number LRX22L. The update is likely just bug fixes as most big changes will come in the 5.1 update, when that eventually happens. In the meantime, we can only hope that this update solves some of the severe lag issues many Nexus 9 owners have been experiencing.
