We’ve been hearing for a long time that Chrome OS was going to begin support for Mediatek processors and it seems the time has come. At the Computex trade show in Tapei, Mediatek showed off a new Chromebook powered by the 64-bit MT8173 quad-core processor. This chip has 4 Cortex A72 CPU cores and can even support 4K video.
The design of the Chromebook itself isn’t exactly the most amazing out there, but it’s likely not the final model. Interestingly the Chromebook also supports USB Type C for charging, data transfer, and other functions.
It’s likely that this machine will be priced to compete with the new $150 Rockchip powered Chromebooks.Via: Chrome Story
