In this day and age, our smartphones go with us everywhere. One place they can be especially useful, when used correctly, is the car. From maps to music, our phones are useful even when driving. However, it’s not fun trying to keep it in a cup holder or on your lap. Many of us use universal car mounts and recently I’ve been testing a new car mount called the “Montar”. This $29 universal car mount brings a pleasant design to a car mount for reasonable price. Let’s take a closer look.
The Montar universal car mount does just what you expect. It holds your phone on the windshield glass or on the dashboard and allows you to use the phone without it getting in the way and provide a nice place to glance at the GPS maps. To do this, the Montar has an extremely strong suction cup, and even that might be an understatement. Once it’s on there, it’s not going anywhere unless you want it too. The mount extends up a couple inches to the area where you’ll place your smartphone. This is done between two expandable arms which are easy to slide to fit the phone. The rubber inside keeps a grip on any phone you place in it and looks good at the same time. You can also rotate the mount 360° degrees so you can easily position the phone in the optimal way.
The Montar easily fits just about any phone. I tested it mainly with an iPhone 6 Plus and a Samsung Galaxy S6. While it’s certainly much easily to insert the S6 because of it’s smaller size, the iPhone 6 Plus also fit with no issues. I also able to fit a Nexus 6 in the slot.
All that said, this is a great car mount for your smartphone. It works well and hangs on to the phone tightly. While I do wish the price was just a bit less than it is, $29 is a great point for this mount. If you want to save a couple extra bucks, you can order from the manufacturers website and share the product from there. Links to the Montar on the manufacturers website and Amazon are below.
