One of the biggest flaws with wireless charging is heat. No matter what phone or what charger you use, your phone will get hot. That’s especially true in the car as wireless charging mounts not only have to worry about the natural heat from the charger, but also heat from the phone being in direct sunlight. One solution would be to mount near an AC vent to keep the phone cool. You’ve undoubtedly thought of that, but it never quite worked perfectly as you would have liked. Now, Chevrolet has the answer, and it’s pretty awesome.
Coming in the 2016 Chevrolet Impala, Cruze, Volt, and Malibu, there will be a dedicated pipeline for air conditioning that’s designed specifically to keep your smartphone cool. That pipeline leads directly to a concealed Qi/PMA wireless charger (yes both will be supported).
Other than the previously mentioned models, we don’t know which cars and SUV’s Chevy has this planned for, but it’s definitely a great addition to see. Odds are though, it’ll just be an option, which will cost extra.
What are your thoughts on this? Are you glad to see Chevy solving a problem many of us face? Not to mention their early adoption of wireless charging as it’s finally becoming mainstream. Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
