We’ve been seeing leaks of the Samsung Galaxy A8 for a couple months now, and today Samsung has made the phone official. The Galaxy A8 is a mid-range phablet that packs an insanely thin profile and looks fairly promising.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16-32GB of storage (with microSD). Around back you’ll find a 16MP camera as well. Hardware wise you also have a full metal frame just like the Galaxy S6. The display on the A8 is a 5.7″ inch 1080p AMOLED display.
The real story here though is how thin this phone is. For reference, let’s look at the Galaxy S6. This phone is 6.9mm thin and has a 2,550 mAh battery packed inside. That’s already pretty great. However, the A8 takes it up a notch coming in at just 5.9mm. Yet, even with it being that thin, the A8 still brings an extra 500 mAh to the table (3,050 mAh).
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is now up for pre-order through Samsung in white, black, and gold, but for now the device is only available in China. There’s no word yet on a wider release.
