Google Is Deleting Inactive Accounts Without Warning – Be Sure To Back Up

Google is apparently doing a bit of a cleanup over the past couple days where they are deleting old, unused accounts. Users have been being notified of this after the fact via their backup emails as listed on those old accounts. The email states that this is because of an unresolved violation of the terms and services,  but it’s unknown exactly what’s going on. Gmail’s ToS does have a rule about account inactivity, but it seems odd that so many users would be seeing this occur at one time.

Google’s Gmail support forums as well as Reddit have been showing this happening in mass quantities so if you have an old Google account you haven’t used in a couple years, you may want to go check and see if there’s any important data on it.

I just noticed the feature in Google Accounts to send alerts from an inactive Google account.
