Android Wear Gets Updated With Interactive Watch Faces, Widgets, And Built-In Translate Functionality

Google’s Android Wear platform has just picked up it’s latest update and it brings some great new functionality to the platform. While there is no Android version number change with this update, there is plenty of added features. Here’s what Google has highlighted:

 – Interactive Watch Faces – With this latest version of Android Wear developers will be able to add additional functionality to their watch faces which could include your agenda for the day, the weather, steps, and more. A well equipped interactive watch face could easily replace multiple Android Wear apps.

 – Together – Another addition to the update is Together. This feature allows users to send content from one watch to another and have it appear on the watch face. This is likely intended for those in a relationship together but everyone could enjoy it.

 – Translate – Last but certainly not least, Google has also integrated Translate into the Android Wear platform. Even if you don’t have the app on your phone (although you really should), you can still use it on your watch.

This update is rolling out to users “over the coming weeks”. This means you’ll likely be waiting a little while to install the update. All current Android Wear devices are set to get this update.

Google has also published information for developers regarding how they can prepare their watchfaces or create new ones that use the new functionality built into Wear. You can check that out here.
