Amazon Has Silently Killed Off “Free App Of The Day” And Replaced It With Amazon Underground

Amazon’s Android app store has never been extremely popular, but it has remained a solid option for many users who do not have access to Google Play or simply need another option. One of the most attractive features of this app store is the fact that every day they offer a paid app for free. Well, at least they did. As of today it seems that Amazon is no longer offering this program. The page which usually shows the day’s free application now shows nothing at all.

Our friends at GadgtSpot reached out to Amazon’s customer service and was able to gather this statement.

I’m sorry; the Amazon Appstore is no longer offering a Free App of the Day. The feature is no longer available. However, you can still find free applications within the Amazon Appstore by viewing the “Top Free” apps, as well as by filtering your search results to “Free” apps. We hope to see you again soon.

I’ve also reached out for a comment with this being my response:

I have checked and found that With the addition of Amazon Underground, the Amazon Appstore is no longer offering a Free App of the Day. You can find other free applications within the Amazon Appstore by viewing the “Top Free” apps, as well as by filtering your search results to “Free” apps.

So no more free apps right? Wrong. Amazon has launched a brand new app for Android users called Amazon Underground. This app has free versions of popular titles which are usually paid. Keep in mind, this is not giving you paid apps for free, it’s giving you free versions of paid apps. You can head to http://www.amazon.com/underground to download that application.
