One of the biggest downsides to the majority of phones in the Chinese market is the software. Generally they bring very heavy skins over top of Android that make even the most powerful devices lag. However with the Paris 4G, Ulefone isn’t doing that. This phone runs Android 5.1 out of the box and brings only a minor skin on top of it.
The launcher is the main change on this device. Rather than something like the Google Now Launcher, the Ulefone Paris 4G has “U Launcher” installed out of the box as the default lancher. Like many phones from the Chinese market, this launcher takes the iPhone approach to apps and places them all on the homescreen rather than including an app drawer.
Spec wise there is a 5″ 720p HD IPS display, a 64-bit MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 13MP rear camera. It also includes dual-SIM capabilities and can utilize 4G networks. Keep in mind that this device is meant for Chinese markets, so you’ll need to confirm with your carrier that it is compatible if you plan on using it anywhere else. I’ve listed the compatible bands below.
- 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
- 3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
- 4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz
The Ulefone Paris 4G is available through Gearbest for $129. It’s currently on pre-order, but it will begin shipping after September 25th.
