The Galaxy S6 is a great phone, but it’s metal and glass design makes it a bit fragile. So what if you want everything the S6 offers, but need it to take some abuse? Well, a case, duh. But which one to get? Lately I’ve been checking out the Revolution from Poetic. Here’s what you need to know about it.
The Poetic Revolution case for the Galaxy S6 is a rugged case designed to take abuse. It’s composed of two layers for increased protection. One layer is a TPU skin for shock absorption and the other a polycarbonate frame. To get the phone in, you’ll need to remove the TPU layer and place the phone in the frame. However that’s easier said than done. Getting this case on the first time is a challenge, but you get the hang of it fairly quick.
Once the case is installed, there’s not really all that much to talk about. The case doesn’t add too much bulk to the device and it definitely feels like it could survive a nasty drop.
One thing to note about this case is that it has a screen protector built in. This means that your phone’s screen will be fully protected inside this case as well. Just ensure during installation that no dust or hair gets stuck to the screen protector.
All ports and buttons on the phone are easily accessible as well. The buttons are still tactile and the microUSB port and headphone jack are both hidden under flaps. This is to help protect them from dust. One huge plus with all of this is that the case doesn’t not affect wireless charging at all. You’ll still be able to use your Qi charger with this case, no problem.
This case is easily rounded up in one simple phrase, “the poor man’s Otterbox”. While it’s not quite as rugged as an Otterbox, this case provides plenty of protection for your phone without making it too thick or breaking the bank. At the time of writing, this case is available for purchase at just under $15 on Amazon. If you’re in the market for a rugged Galaxy S6 case, this one seems like a no-brainer to me.
