Between the Microsoft and Sony, it’s pretty clear that the Xbox One has the bigger first-party lineup this holiday season. While the PS4 has the ever-popular Call of Duty touch, the Xbox One has some heavy hitters like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the launch of Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility. Even though Sony may not have a lot going into the holiday season, they did find a way to even the odds.
In case you missed it, John Koller on the PlayStation Blog informed us that starting on Friday, October 9th, (the timing of my vacation could not be any worse) the PlayStation 4 will get a price drop in both the United States and Canada. Now, you can pick up one for $349 USD or $429 CAD.
With this, some special bundles will be coming this holiday season, each with special price drops. John Koller has also posted a list, which can be seen below.
Unlike the Xbox One’s temporary price drop last holiday, it looks like the PS4’s will be permanent. This is somewhat unprecedented considering the console’s enormous success. Still, Sony appears to be pretty confident that the sales will continue to stomach the profits lost in the drop.
Now that the two console heavy hitters are on an even playing field, which will you be picking up this holiday season? Or are you still waiting for that killer app to hook you in? Let us know in the comments below.
