Huawei Updates P8 Lite To Lollipop, Promises Marshmallow For 15 Devices

Today Huawei has made two major announcements regarding their Android lineup. First of all, their budget smartphone, the Huawei P8 Lite, is getting updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop. This marks the first major OS upgrade for the device and brings it out of the age of KitKat. However, this update doesn’t come without a catch. Rather than using a standard OTA, users will have to manually install the update on their phone. Huawei offers full instructions on how to do this through their website. While there is certainly a bit of a hassle in doing this, it does mean that the phone should run faster than ever once the update is installed.

In addition to that news, Huawei also announced a slew of their devices that will be updated to the latest version of Android, Marshmallow. This is no small list either. 15 devices are included. It’s unknown what will be included in the update aside from features like “Now on Tap”, but regardless we’re glad to see an OEM commit this much effort to updating devices. The full list is below.
