Satechi Wireless Gamepad Review – Sturdy, Affordable, Universal

Mobile gaming is getting better and better. Of course, I don’t see it beating PC or console gaming anytime soon, but it’s pretty decent where it’s at. The one thing holding it down: touch controls. No one likes touch controls, and if you do, there’s no need to read on. This article is all about the Satechi Wireless Gamepad; a controller that connects to your device and depending on the game, you can use it to play your games. Pretty cool, right?

So I know these already exist and this isn’t really something too new, but this is a little different from anything out there. What’s out there? well, for starters, for the NVIDIA Shield tablet, you have the Shield controller. The Shield controller is pretty cool. But for a little less than that you can get the Satechi Gamepad. Now, something that sold me right away with the Satechi controller is something called a retractable phone grip. This unique design turns your phone and controller combo into a singular device. It holds your phone in place so you can hold the controller with the phone right above it for easy viewing. This makes the controller pretty awesome.

The Gamepad is extremely sturdy but lightweight. The buttons respond really well and they don’t feel too mushy. Analog sticks respond pretty well and don’t lag much at all. The controller is pretty comfortable in the hands. I used it for a good while and didn’t have any complaints bout comfort during my use. When it comes to battery life, the gamepad lasts a good while. As long as you keep an eye on charge, then you’ll be fine. If anything, your phone will run out of battery before the game pad does!

The gamepad works with Windows, Android, and iOS so no matter what phone you have, chances are you will be able to use the gamepad. The only problem I encountered was that not too many games use the gamepad as a secondary control system, but when the game does work with it, it’s really nice. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot to say about the gamepad. It’s basically only a controller. But it’s a good controller. I would definitely recommend picking one up if you game a lot on mobile, especially on the go.
