The Nexus 6P has several great built in features, but one that we would have like to see is the double tap to wake. This feature has proved very useful on the handful of devices it’s been found on, but so far it’s been pretty scarce on Nexus devices. If you want it on your Nexus 6P, it’s actually not that hard to enable.
Lying dormat in the device’s kernel is the code that allows the Nexus 6P to use this feature. XDA developer Flar2 uncovered this information and you can enable it with just one simple line of code.
echo 1 > /sys/devices/soc.0/f9924000.i2c/i2c-2/2-0070/input/input0/wake_gesture
To do this you’ll need to be rooted and you’ll need to download a terminal emulator as well.
The one major downside to all of this is the feature won’t stick around after a reboot. Flar2 is working on a custom kernel that will enable the feature permanently, but for now we can enjoy it this way.Source: XDA Via: Phandroid
