Google Might Be Working On Their Own Mobile Processor For Future Android Devices
Tonight The Information has released a report claiming that Google is currently working to create their own mobile processor to be used in future Android smartphones and more specifically, Nexus devices. The report claims that the company has been meeting with multiple microchip vendors in order to pick someone to build the processor. In these meeting Google has allegedly been showing off their early designs for the new processor.
So why would Google be interested in doing this? The short and simple answer is to better compete again Apple. Since Apple controls the software, hardware, and processing power in their devices, things tend to work better since there are less variables. However in the case of the Nexus line, Google only controls the software. Hardware is always handled by another OEM and the chipset tends to be from Qualcomm.
Plans for this new processor could go even further, but for now we don’t know exactly what Google is planning. Regardless, this could be a very good thing for the Android market and I personally can’t wait to see what comes of it.Source: The Information
