With an all metal body, the Nexus 6P is one slick phone. Since it’s metal, it’s also a bit more prone to scratches. To solve this I use a case. My personal favorite right now, the Rugged Armor case from Spigen. This Nexus 6P provides ample protection for the phone without adding too much bulk and it also doesn’t take away from the design all that much.
This is a single layer TPU case with a matte black texture taking up the majority of the case with faux carbon fiber accents. The top and bottom of the case has these texture and it looks great in contrast to the rest of the case. The Rugged Armor case has precise cutouts for the camera, fingerprint sensor, the headphone jack, and the USB C port. While the buttons are covered, they are still very tactile and easy to press. It’s also very easy to feel the difference between the power button and volume rocker, although it would’ve been great to see a rugged texture on the power button.
Rising up above the display is a lip from the case which helps protect the screen from scratches when it is placed face down. It’s not a very high lip, but it will protect your screen even if you’re using a tempered glass screen protector as I am. Overall, this is a solid case. At $12.99, it’s priced well and is certainly worth picking up.
