Android 6.0.1 Is Here With Emojis and New UIs in Tow
As was leaked to happen from last week’s Emoji story, the December security update for Nexus devices has arrived, and it has brought a new Android update with it. Android 6.0.1 is bundled with this security updates, and with that comes new emojis and Ui tweaks.
The update is hitting all Nexus devices from the past 3 years, which includes: Nexus 5, 5X, 6, 6P, 7 (2013, with and without LTE), and 9 (with and without LTE). Some devices have already started receiving the update, but if you’re like me and either don’t have the OTA or just like to flash updates then good news, all of those devices have factory images ready to download and flash.
As far as some of the visual tweaks go in this new Android 6.0.1, of course we have the huge list of new emojis, that add new taco and middle finger emojis (among other ones) and change a bunch of the ones we currently have. There’s also a navbar tweak for tablets that put the ‘back’ and ‘home’ buttons on the far left side of the bar, while the ‘recents’ button is on the far right. Presumably, this is for ergonomic comfortability when holding a tablet, but our team can’t decide whether this is a wanted choice or not.
If you’re wanting to know about all the security enhancements and patches included with this update, you can head on over to the AOSP site for the mass amount of details — but we all really know why you want this update (tacos).
