NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 Currently Getting The Marshmallow OTA

As they promised at launch, NVIDIA is pushing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the new SHIELD Tablet K1. The update was promised to drop before the end of 2015 and with just 10 days left, that promise has been fufilled. The update is rolling out now as a 665mb over the air update. The biggest changes include Android features such as Google Now on Tap and Doze, but also includes a new camera UI and more. One notable change that SHIELD users will undoubtedly enjoy is the addition of adoptable SD storage which allows users to “adopt” their microSD card as internal storage.

This $199 tablet succeeded the SHIELD Tablet from last year with a slight hardware revision and the new much lower price point. Marshmallow should be available on your SHIELD Tablet K1 right now. Simply head into the settings and click “About Tablet” followed by “System Updates” to check for your update. Be sure to let us know how the update works out for you!
