LG’s G series of smartphones has quickly become a beloved smartphone line by many mainstream smartphone users, and Android enthusiasts alike. Ever since its incarnation with the LG Optimus G, it’s been LG’s most popular and successful line of smartphones. This became especially prevalent with the LG G3, the device which really put LG up there with the big guys like Samsung and Apple. Now we are at that time of year when the rumor mill should be in full swing with supposed information pertaining to LG’s next addition to the companies G line of smartphones, the LG G5.
Almost like clockwork the first substantial leak of information about the upcoming LG G5 has hit the internet today. This leaked information comes from an unnamed source who was apparently “briefed on the company’s (LG) plans.” This source has revealed a huge amount of supposed specs and features of the unreleased LG G5. You might want to sit down for this one folks, there is a lot of information in this leak to take in.
First up, the source revealed information about the G5’s display. The device will sport a 5.3-inch 1440 x 2650 display, which is QHD. This years G4 has a 5.5-inch display at that same resolution, which means that the G5 should have a slightly sharper display than the G4. Also notable about the G5’s display is the fact that it will possess a secondary “ticker” display, the same smaller display that made its debut on the LG V10 earlier this year.
Something else that the G5 will supposedly borrow from the V10 is its dual-camera arrangement. The V10 has two camera lenses on its back, this dual camera set-up allowed the V10 to take wide-angle shots at 135-degrees. This is the same reason that the G5 will have this camera set-up with the main camera being 16MP. In between the two camera lenses on the back of the G5 will supposedly be quite a few things. A dual-flash LED, laser autofocus, and an RGB sensor also used for autofocusing purposes. As for the front-facing camera of the G5, it will be the same 8MP camera that was included on the front of the G4.
Perhaps the most interesting supposed feature of the G5 is what the source referred to as a “Magic Slot.” The source went on to describe this as a port for taking advantage of different types of cameras, audio devices, and physical keyboards, something that is virtually unheard of in todays mobile market.
The source also revealed many of the typical specs of the G5. It will supposedly contain a metal design, 2800mAh battery, Snapdragon 820, and 3GB of RAM. The G5 will also sport a fingerprint sensor, similar to the one on the LG-made Nexus 5X. It will also be located in around the same spot as the one on the Nexus 5X.
Unfortunately, no information regarding price or release date was mentioned by the unnamed source. Although, the G4 was released this year in April and the G5 will likely be released in April if not close to that time next year.
