In an unexpected turn of events, Verizon is pushing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the LG G3 on their network! One user on Reddit, Jrdnram_98, has already received the update and it comes under the build number MRA58K as software version VS98546A. An important note is that this update also includes the latest Android security patch for January 2016.
This update has been rolling out to the LG G3 since late last year albeit only in specific regions. Since then only a few unlocked models of the phone have gotten this update, so it’s extremely surprising to see that Verizon of all people is pushing the update out already.
With the Marshmallow update the LG G3 will gain access to features such as Google Now on Tap, Doze, and app permissions. OTA rollouts can take quite a while, but G3 users on Verizon should see the update hit their devices within the next week or so.
