Satechi USB C SD/microSD Card Reader Review

Reading SD cards is something that just about everyone needs to do at one point or another. With many new products that have ditched SD slots, it’s a bit tougher to actually accomplish that task. Whether that be with Apple’s new 12″ Macbook or with USB C equipped smartphones such as the Nexus 6P, you’re going to need an adapter of some sort. With Satechi’s new USB C SD reader, it’s easy and inexpensive to do that.

This compact aluminum SD reader connects via your USB C port and provides two slots, one for a standard size SD card, the other for a microSD card.

I did the majority of my testing with this product with Google’s Nexus 6P, but I can also confirm that it works with the Lumia 950 and the Pixel C. The adapter easily allows me to transfer files from my camera to my smartphone with ease without ever needing a computer. Files move quickly as well.

Overall, this is a product you can’t go wrong with. It looks great, it works well, and it’s not expensive by any means. At $24.99, it’s great addition to any Nexus owner or anyone with a compatible PC. For owners of the 12″ Macbook, I’d almost call this a must-have since you can keep it just about anywhere when you’re on the go.
