Google is currently working on rolling out the latest batch of security patches to Nexus smartphones, but they’ve already made them available through the latest factory images.
These new updates all still show Android 6.0.1 and raise the security patch level to February 1st, 2016. The build numbers show MMB29Q, MMB29U, and MMB29R and they are of course available for all currently supported Nexus smartphones and tablets.
As with other factory images, you’ll flash these in the exact same way from your computer.
Google’s security bulletin lists 10 different issues that were fixed within this latest patch. 5 of these were considered critical including a mediasever remote exploit and a Broadcom driver vulnerability. If you want to check out a few more details, head over to Google’s official notes.
