Twitter Could Be Moving To An Algorithmic Timeline As Soon As Next Week
According to a new report out Buzzfeed News, Twitter is preparing to make a major change to the way your timeline works. Their report claims that Twitter is preparing to show users tweets that they think best suit them rather than in chronological order as they are currently shown.
Say hello to a brand new Twitter. The company is planning to introduce an algorithmic timeline as soon as next week, BuzzFeed News has learned.
The timeline will reorder tweets based on what Twitter’s algorithm thinks people most want to see, a departure from the current feed’s reverse chronological order.
This would be a massive change as Twitter has used a timeline based on a chronological order since day one. It’s unclear if this change would be optional or if they are going to force users into using it.
They are reportedly already testing it out with a select group of users and they could be rolling it out as soon as next week.
