After rolling out to the 2015 Moto 360 last week, the 1st generation is now getting the latest Android Wear update. This update brings the device up to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and includes Android Wear 1.4.
This update includes a collection of new gestures, Doze mode, and also a few new voice commands. As on the 2015 Moto 360, Motorola also says that this includes battery life and performance improvements and support for six new languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian, Polish, Dutch and Thai.
The original Moto 360 of course does not include a speaker, so it will not be able to take advantage of the added speaker support. Motorola also notes that users will not be able to downgrade from this version after installing it.
Let’s also take a moment to recognize just how fast this update was pushed out. The majority of Android Wear devices on the market today have yet to pick up this update and in comparsion to how quickly the 1st gen Moto 360 picked up Lollipop, this is just downright impressive.
Android Wear 1.4 is already rolling out to 1st gen Moto 360 users, so if you’re using that watch, go ahead and check for an update.
