Instagram is a rapidly growing social network, but one issue it has always had is security. I can’t tell you how many different times I’ve heard of users having their accounts hacked. However now two-factor authentication has been added to beef up security.
Instagram will be “slowly” rolling out this feature to all users over time, but no specific time frame was provided.
Just like most offer services that offer two-factor authentication, users will receive automated text messages with unique codes which will be used to log in to their accounts. The social network was testing out the feature late last year, according to TechCrunch, and at that point users were required to use pre-generated codes that were created the first time they activated the feature. It’s unclear if that will stick around as well, but regardless, we’re just glad to see the addition.
