LG’s new G5 was just unveiled this morning and with powerful specs and improved software, it looks like a pretty solid buy for many users. However one big change that plenty of users are probably not going to be a huge fan of is that LG is removing the app drawer on this device.
On the stock launcher, LG will not be including the app drawer as we’ve seen on just about every other Android device. You can see this change at the 2:11 mark in the video below from Android Authority.
LG claims that this change was made to create a more simplistic UI and it is something that their research showed customers wanted on their device.
You could of course install a third-party launcher to restore the app drawer, but it will not be available out of the box, similar to many Chinese devices such as the Honor 5X.
What do you think of this change? Are you in favor of it, or would you have preferred LG to include the classic Android feature on the phone out of the box? Let us know in the comments.
