March Android Security Patch Now Available For Nexus Devices

Google has today announced that the latest round of security patches is now available for Nexus devices and the Pixel C tablet. These new patches are available through updates to each device (still Android 6.0.1) and are currently available as factory images. The OTA should be rolling out over the coming weeks.

Builds LMY49H or later and Android M with Security Patch Level of March 01, 2016 or later address these issues.

March’s security patches include fixes for 16 different bugs ranging from critical to moderate in severity however there are no reports of users being affected by those issues.

The most severe of these issues is a Critical security vulnerability that could enable remote code execution on an affected device through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files.

Blackberry also announced this update would be heading to the Priv today and other OEMs such as Samsung, HTCMotorola, and others should be pushing the same update in the near future.
