Facebook Messenger For Android Gets A Material Design Overhaul

Facebook has announced that they will pushing out a massive redesign for the Android version of Facebook Messenger soon. This new update brings Google’s Material Design to the popular messaging app.

The new design incorporates elements of the previous design, with tabs to help keep track of conversations, groups, people and settings as well. The entire interface however now feels up to date with newer versions of the Android operating system, like Marshmallow.

If you’re using Messenger on Android, you’ve been wanting a brand new material design for a bit. Any major redesign of an essential app used by hundreds of millions of people around the world is painstakenly hard, and that’s why we took every precaution to ensure you’d truly enjoy this evolution.

Elements of this design, such as the “Floating Action Button” were available for some users earlier this year in another update, however now the entire app has followed suit. The rollout of this new design should start soon through the Google Play Store.
