Blackberry’s first entry to the Android market has been pretty impressive for the manufacturer, offering a solid phone with great features and on top of all of that, good software. The Blackberry Priv comes with a near-stock build of Android Lollipop, but that’s soon to change. In an update coming next month, Blackberry will be upgrading the Priv to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company hasn’t revealed any new features that will come with this launch, but we can of course expect the standard features that come with any Marshmallow upgrade such as Doze, Google Now on Tap, and app permissions along with dozens of other changes.
The update will be available to unlocked owners first with carriers undoubtedly falling a bit behind. That said however, if you’re interested in trying out the update a bit early you can sign up for a limited public beta test which will push Marshmallow to your Blackberry Priv sometime next week. Space is limited, but if you’re interested in signing up, you can do so here.
