Android TV debuted over two years ago at this point and adoption hasn’t been amazing to say the least. We’ve seen a handful of devices launch including the Nexus Player and NVIDIA SHIELD, but along with that we’ve seen a handful of TVs launch with Android TV built-in. Sony was the first but their TVs were out of reach for many considering their high price. RCA on the other hand is preparing to launch their own Android TV powered TVs starting at just $499.
These new TVs come in with 4K, UHD 120Hz panels. Sizes come in with 50″, 55″, and 65″ models. All three share the same basic design which is available in all black with a standard slim line, or with a metal silver slim line.
The RCA brand was built on TV, and that category continues to be a primary focus for the business. Smart TV, featuring full Android capability, truly addresses the future of TV viewing experiences, and offers it at a price point a wide range of consumers can afford. This new 4K UHD Android TV adds another opportunity for RCA to address retail demand for affordable innovation with a brand that consumers have long known and trusted.
These new TVs are set to launch in June at Walmart, hhgregg, Target, Brandsmart, and Rent-A-Center. The 50″ model runs $499 with the 55″ ad 65″ coming in at $699 and $999 respectively. The alternate metal silver model costs an extra $100 on top of those previous prices.
