According to a report today out of Recode, Google has just hired Motorola’s former CEO Rick Osterloh. Why? Apparently he’s heading up a new division at Google where he’ll be overseeing all of the company’s hardware projects including Pixel devices, Chromecast, OnHub, Chromebooks, Glass, ATAP, and Nexus devices. Some of these projects, including Nexus and Chromecast were previously led by Hiroshi Lockheimer who will be shifting further focus to Android.

Osterloh previously oversaw Motorola during it’s stay under Google, so this marks a return to the company for him. Hopefully this new management and unification of all over Google’s hardware endeavors will help further push things forward. Google has apparently confirmed the news as well.
