If you look at the sea of smartphones today, two things will stand out, size, and cameras. Today Sony has decided to marry the two in a behemoth of a smartphone, the Sony Xperia XA Ultra.
This smartphone features a massive 6″ display within Sony’s classic metal & glass design. The bezels are gladly pretty small with what appears to be a bit of curvature around the edges. The resolution of said display is only 1080p, but that should be fine and help extend the life of the embedded 2,700 mAh battery.
Under the hood you’ll also find a MediaTek MT6755 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expansion, and Android Marshmallow with Sony’s skin atop.
The real highlight of this device however is the camera setup. On the back we have Sony’s usual 21.5 MP Exmor sensor with quick launch and hybrid autofocus in place to improve the shooting experience, but the front is where Sony really made improvements. Generally front facing cameras range between 5MP and 8MP, but Sony has included a massive 16MP sensor on the front of the Xperia XA Ultra. This should provide tons of detail for all you selfie lovers and to make things even better, this shooter is equipped with OIS, much like the HTC 10. The company claims that this camera will be exceptional for nighttime/low light use as well.
Boasting an advanced selfie cam, you can create the perfect pose day or night, made possible by its 16MP front camera and Sony’s renowned low-light sensors. Sony camera technologyused in Xperia XA Ultra helps you achieve sharp, bright, blur-free shots every time, it features a smart selfie flash to naturally illuminate your face for night scene selfies plus Optical Image Stabilisation to counter hand shake for both photos and videos. Taking your selfie is made even easier with the Hand Shutter feature, just raise a hand and the shutter timer will start to count down, leaving you time to make the perfect pout and strike a pose.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but Sony has confirmed that the Xperia XA Ultra will go on sale starting in July with White, Graphite, and “Lime Gold” (?) color options being available.
