Google Is Giving Away Free Chromecasts To Some YouTube Red Users

YouTube Red is an amazing value with $10 a month giving users an ad-free YouTube experience along with full access to Google Play Music. Lately Google has been pushing more and more users to try out the service, even offering 3 months for just $1, however now it seems their giving users a little gift.

According to a few scattered reports, Google is sending out emails to YouTube Red users offering up a free Chromecast just for being a member of the service. Some users from the $1 trial are even reporting this promo. Here’s the email from Google:

Thanks for being a part of YouTube Red
Here’s a gift we hope you’ll love. Now through June 19, 2016, claim your very own Chromecast from YouTube Red. It’s on us! No strings attached, just a little treat for being one of the first people to join the party.
With Chromecast, you get a bigger picture. Simply plug it in and stream any YouTube song or video directly from your phone, tablet, or computer to your TV. We hear YouTube Red members love being able to watch ad-free videos on TV, so we thought we’d help you get started.
Follow these steps to claim your Chromecast before time runs out:
Hit the button above.
In the upper right corner, click “Choose Options.”
Don’t worry. The discount will be applied at checkout.
Choose your color.
Complete the checkout process.
Thanks again for being a YouTube Red member. And happy watching!

Each email appears to come with a unique link which has an attached promo code for the Google Store. The discount won’t appear until checkout however.

Google hasn’t said anything about this promotion publicly yet, so if you are a YouTube Red user, let us know if you’ve received this email!

So I did get an email, and it doesn’t work. I brought this up with support and they claimed it was “a fake”. Which is really weird, because nothing about it says it’s from anyone else BUT google.
