Activity trackers have become very popular over the past few years, but very of them are particularly cheap. That is however aside from the Xiaomi Mi Band. The original Mi Ban provided all of the same functionality we wanted in an activity tracker, but for well under $20. Today Xiaomi has decided to refresh the device, adding new features, sensors, and a display.
The Mi Band 2 will track everything including your heart rate, basic movements, and sleep. The new OLED display will display some of those results including your step count and heart rate. It can also show certain alerts from a connected smartphone.
As with the previous Mi Band, you can expect great battery life out of this tracker, albeit a bit less than the original. The original lasted over 30 days on a single charge while Xiaomi only claims 20 on this model, not bad considering the added display.
The Mi Band 2 will go on sale next week (June 7th) for just $23, in China. Sadly the company hasn’t confirmed details on an international release, but we should hear more on that in the near future. The device will be available in black, blue, orange, and green.
