With less than a week to go before the E3 2016 conferences, you’d think that publishers and marketing firms would want to save some of the reveals for the main event. Recently, however, the trend of teasers and pre-E3 trailers has become commonplace. Throwing their hat into the ring is Square Enix with a reveal I’ve been wanting for a while.
Earlier today, a teaser trailer was released for the remaster of Final Fantasy Xii titled Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. This remaster of the PS2 classic will be coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2017.
The remaster will feature full HD resolution environments, models, and pre-rendered cutscenes, with potentially better current-gen rendering techniques. The game will also have dual-audio, with both Japanese and English voice-acting. Like the Final Fantasy X and X-2 remaster, the game will feature both the original soundtrack and the remastered version for your enjoyment.
This remaster is also based on the International version of FFXII, meaning that the character growth system other improvements to the game’s interface will be coming. New features will include a reconstructed battle system and a revamped job system dubbed the Zodiac Job system. Technical improvements will also include shortened load times and auto-saves.
Out of all of the Final Fantasy game I hoped would get remastered, it was definitely Final Fantasy XII. Being one of the first RPGs I’d ever played, it meant a lot, and now getting it on PlayStation 4 will be a real treat.
