Timedock – Pebble Time Charging Dock Review
One of my least favorite tasks is connecting my Pebble Time to its magnetic charger (only every 5-7 days, just sayin’) and then having to just laying it down on a surface in some awkward position to ensure the charger doesn’t disconnect. Either on its side, gently flat on its back or, sometimes mistakenly upside down. All I’ve ask for is a clean, simple way to dock my wearable w/o worrying about it, and knowing it can still be usable while off my wrist and charging. Maybe something like a TimeDock!
Cue the TimeDock
As mentioned, I knew I would want some type of charging dock once I pledged for the Pebble Time. Although I never got around to pledging for the TimeDock, it made me very happy to see it show up on Kickstarter in March of last year. Fortunately for me I was able to receive the charging dock for reviewing purposes, and I’ve been using it for about two months now.
It’s been the perfect dock. The small assembly consists of the magnetic charging module, machined aluminum dock, and micro suction cup rubber for the bottom. Also included is a USB/microUSB cord that you’ll use with your own charging brick, but that’s often the norm these days with accessories. The dock’s charging pad sits at the perfect angle for watchface visibility. Set your wearable on the charging pad effortlessly, and of course you’ll stare waiting for that little coffee cup to pop up and vibrate, telling you it’s charging successfully. Removal of the watch from the dock is just as simple.
Now you no longer have a loose ended charging cable laying around on your desk, but an aesthetically pleasing desk or nightstand feature. They can be purchased in five standard colors: black, gunmetal grey, silver, and rose gold. All Time variants: Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, or the latest released Pebble Time Round are compatible with the TimeDock. I definitely recommend the TimeDock to anyone owning a Pebble Time device. It’s the perfect compliment to your smartwatch. You’ll use it weekly.
Note: The latest iteration of the TimeDock that will support the Pebble Time 2 and Pebble 2 was just launched on May 27th on Kickstarter. I won’t miss out this time around, as I’ve pledged for both the Pebble Time 2 and the TimeDock that supports it. So basically, if you’re a Pebble wearable fan, it’s a no brainer.
