After several leaks and rumors, Samsung has today officially taken the wraps off of the all new Galaxy Note 7. As Samsung latest flagship smartphone the Note 7 brings along a slightly curved display, top of the line specifications, and features to match.
One of the first thing that stands out about the Note 7 is the lack of any flat version as Samsung will only be offering this phone in its curved variant. This is a first for Samsung as each Edge smartphone they’ve released has also been available with a flat variant. However with the Note 7 the curve is much more subtle which should ease some of the concerns users may have. As for specifications, the full list follows.
- 5.7″ QHD SuperAMOLED Curved Display
- Gorilla Glass 5
- Snapdragon 820 Processor
- 4GB RAM
- 64GB Storage w/ microSD Card Slot
- 12MP Rear Camera, f/1.7, OIS, 4K Video
- 5MP Front Camera
- 3,500 mAh Battery
- USB C, Quick Charge 3.0
- 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm
- IP68 Water Resistance
Just like previous Notes, the Note 7 will come with an S-Pen which, just like the phone, is water resistant and works underwater. Samsung also says that the S-Pen is capable of 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, nearly double that of the previous Note 5. The device will also come pre-loaded with Android Marshmallow, the same skin from the Galaxy S7, although slightly modified for the Note’s features. Samsung is also launching the new “Samsung Cloud” feature on the Note 7 which performs a similar function to Apple’s iCloud in backing up your device’s data. The long-rumored Iris scanner is also available on the front.
Pricing on the Note 7 has not been announced, however all major US carriers have announced that the device will be available starting August 19th. For now the device will only be available through carriers with an unlocked model releasing later this year. The Note 7 is available in silver, black, and blue with a new Gear VR also launching alongside the device.

Galaxy Note7 S Pen: Quickly and Easily Bring Ideas to Life
The enhanced Galaxy Note7 S Pen is more than just a writing tool – it is the gateway to getting more done efficiently and accurately. Users can bring ideas to life the moment inspiration strikes without unlocking the screen by using Screen off memo and simply pinning the memo to the Always On Display. The new S Pen writes with ease and precision. The smaller 0.7mm tip and improved pressure sensitivity provides a real pen-like experience. With the peace of mind that IP68 water resistant provides, the Galaxy Note7 S Pen lets users jot down their thoughts without interruption, even when the screen gets wet.
