After months of developer previews, it seems Google is finally planning to launch Android 7.0, Nougat, publicly. It was previously revealed that the update would be coming during the month of August, but thanks to Canadian carrier TELUS, we now have a specific date.
August 22nd. TELUS lists new updates for both the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X on August 22nd with Android Nougat listed.
If this date is indeed correct, we’ll probably see the code for Android N posted to AOSP, an official announcement from Google, and the first OTAs being pushed out. It’s possible Android Wear 2.0 and Google Assistant could launch the same day, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on either.
This date also lines up with a preview program for Android Nougat that LG announced last week. The program also kicks off on August 22nd, so it would make sense that Google would officially kick off the update prior to LG starting that program.Source: TELUS
