Google will reportedly announce Pixel phones, a Daydream VR viewer, Google Home and a 4K Chromecast on October 4th

According to yet another leak published by Android Police, the Pixel phones will be formally announced on October 4th along with the other devices Google teased at their I/O conference back in May. Joining the Pixel and Pixel XL will be Google Home (basically an Amazon Echo competitor with Google Assistant instead of Alexa), a 4K-enabled Chromecast device and what may be called the Daydream View (the Daydream VR viewer Google has been developing to succeed Cardboard).

The Daydream VR viewer will take advantage of Nougat’s integrated Daydream VR interface (which will apparently require one of the aforementioned Pixel phones – current Nexus phones running Nougat need not apply). Google Home will apparently be like a Chromecast hooked up to a speaker and a microphone, and the actual Chromecast mentioned by Android Police will evidently be able to serve up 4K video and be called either the Chromecast Plus or the Chromecast Ultra (as in 4K Ultra HD – get it?).

Now we really do have a lot to take in tonight, don’t we? It looks like October 4th will be more like Google I/O finally come to fruition. Incidentally, I hope Google’s security goons never catch up to whoever has been talking to Android Police.
