After months of anticipation, Google’s new messaging app, Allo, is finally here, and it’s pretty cool. Interested in trying it out? Here’s how to sign up.
The first step is of course to download Google Allo. At launch, Allo is only available on Android and iOS with no desktop apps or tablet compatibility available just yet. If you want to download, all you need to do is go to your respective app store, either Google Play or the Apple App Store, and download the app.
Once you’ve installed the app, you’ll need to sign up using your phone number. The app will automatically pull the phone number of the device that it is installed on, but you can also replace that with another number if you’d like. After the number is in, hit the “next” button on the bottom of the display to verify the number via a one-time SMS text message.
After you’ve done that, Allo will automatically sign into the primary Google account on your device and place you into the Google Assistant chat where you’ll answer a few questions to get started.
Once you’ve finished all of that, simply press the “new conversation” button toward the bottom right side of the screen and type in the name or number of the person who you’d like to chat with. And that’s it! You’re now set up and good to go with Allo. Enjoy!
