Samsung is well-known for many things, but laptops aren’t typically the first thing you think of with the South Korean electronics maker. However, Samsung has just announced a refresh to its Notebook 9 lineup of Windows laptops, offering slimmer designs, more powerful specs, and some new, useful features.
The Nookbook 9 line consists of two options ─ a 13-inch variant and a 15-inch variant. Both laptops offer 7th generation Intel processors up to the i7, but starting out with the i5. 256GB of SSD storage is available on either model, and the 1080p HDR display also offers super-slim bezels along the side. Along with the power under the hood, the Notebook 9 series offers up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, fast charging with up to 7 hours of battery life, and Bluetooth 4.1.
Also included on both laptops are an array of ports including two USB 3.0 ports, a single USB-C port, full-size HDMI, and on the larger 15-inch model, an extra USB 2.0 port. Both laptops also offer fingerprint sensors for quick, easy, and secure access to your machine.
Last, and certainly most notable, these are extremely lightweight compared to other laptops with the same power. For comparsion’s sake, Apple’s 12-inch Macbook weighs in at 2.03lbs while the 15-inch Notebook 9 is 2.17lbs and the smaller 13-inch weighs in at just 1.8lbs. Needless to say, that’s a lot of power in such a lightweight package.
Samsung has yet to reveal pricing information on either laptop, but we should learn more in the coming weeks, perhaps at CES in January.
