Action cameras have become increasingly popular over the last few years, but they often come at a premium price. Except for the Yi Action camera, which was released in May of 2015. Almost two years later, we’re taking a look at this and seeing if it’s still worth buying.
The Yi Action Camera shoots 1080p video, and takes pictures up to 16MP. The battery will last for 95 minutes, and it also has WiFi and Bluetooth so you can control the camera from your phone. On paper, those specs may seem pretty great — especially for $80.
The camera quality is actually pretty decent, but the main fault of the camera is in the app, which is plagued by mediocre design practices and a confusing layout.
But is it actually worth buying, long after its release? For light use, I certainly think it is. Check out our full video review to get an up-close look at the camera, and see some sample footage from it.
