Some of the best accessories for the Huawei Mate 9
The Mate 9 is a great phone. It’s one of my favorites of 2016. But of course, you can’t just have the phone. You need cases, chargers and so on. The cool thing about the Mate 9 is that recently within the past month, Huawei pushed an Amazon Alexa app to the Mate 9, which enables it to act exactly like an Echo or an Echo Dot. So what do we recommend you grab for this awesome phone? Let’s get into it!
UAG almost always makes great cases. The Plasma Series case is no exception. Someone I’ve always loved about UAG cases is the button sensitivity on the case. I know exactly when I’m hitting the button and I never miss it. The other great thing about this case is how comfortable it is. I can easily hold the Mate 9 for a while without tiring out. The cutouts are pretty much perfect, especially where the fingerprint sensor is. It’s super easy to find and comfortable.
It’s a little hard to find cases that look good, but UAG definitely hits the spot. The back is a frosted white and the sides are a rugged black. Overall the Plasma case looks and feels really good. But that means that the price tag is a little high coming in at $40. But that’s UAG for you.
If you’re looking for a great case that’s just under $10, then this is one of the best options. The case is made of leather and has two pockets for cards or whatever you want to put in there. This is honestly one of the best-looking cases for the price out there, in my opinion. The leather, while fake, looks great and the case feels great in the hand. It’s more of a snap-on case with cutouts where the buttons are. The fingerprint sensor isn’t blocked either, which is exactly what you want. After using the Slim Wallet case for a while, I can honestly say it’s well worth the $10.
As far as screen protectors go, there are a ton of options. But just to shorten your options, I’m going to give you one. The SuperShieldz Tempered Glass screen protector is just a good all-around screen protector. The main downfall of this protector is how it doesn’t fully cover the whole screen. This isn’t great, but It can be good if you have a case that extends over the screen a bit. That being said, this one definitely does the job.
Everything is included in the box including wipes and dust removers. So you shouldn’t have to be experienced to put the protector on perfectly.
Now that the cases are out of the way, the rest of the accessories are smart home accessories considering the fact that the Mate 9 has Alexa built-in. Let’s go over them!
TP-Link Smart Bulbs
If you’re looking for a good smart lightbulb to pair with Alexa, TP-Link is the way to go. They’re reliable and bright. The standard one is just as you’d imagine. You can turn it off and on via the Kasa app or the Alexa app. This is just a good bulb in general.
The tuneable bulb is pretty neat. If you prefer a warmer room over a cooler one, you can easily change the temperature. It’s as simple as using a slider to get it exactly where you need it. Again, it’s activated via Alexa and works without a hitch. Most of the time, I’ll use this to lessen the strain on my eyes by turning it to a warmer color. Usually, that works pretty well.
The last bulb from TP-Link is one of my favorites. This one has tons of color options through the Kasa app, though you can’t change them through Alexa. You can set any scene you need to and it works pretty well. The only issue I have with this one is that even though you have a temperature change option, it doesn’t work as well as the Tuneable bulb does. It’s either very cool or very warm. It works well enough in retrospect.
Overall, all these accessories are great options. The cases are both great and I would definitely recommend them, especially the leather one. The screen protector is probably a must and for $8, isn’t a bad choice. Lastly, the TP-Link bulbs are all great, especially the tunable and multi-color one.
