Motorola and Lenovo have now confirmed that there is a bug regarding how the Moto G5 Plus handles emergency 911 calls, while using VoLTE on the Verizon network. You can imagine how disappointing this can be for customers in distress, and Lenovo has already started on a solution. The mobile giant has issued a forum post that a patch is currently being worked on, to be released sometime next week.
In the meantime, they’ve offered a temporary workaround for turning off VoLTE. For Verizon phones, this is labeled as “Enhanced 4G LTE Mode.” To disable this option go to Settings > More > Wireless & Networks and toggle Enhance 4G LTE Mode to the off position. While this was missed in internal Moto testing, it’s at least somewhat reassuring that a fix will be in place for users next week.
