Nova Launcher is one of the best launchers on Android in terms of features, and the developers behind it are quick to add features based on what Google adds to Android. In the latest beta update, Nova has done just that, pulling over one of the biggest launcher features from the latest version of Android O.
The update, available now via the Play Store if you’ve signed up for beta updates, includes the usual bug fixes and performance improvements, but it also includes some new improvements and fixes for those who are running on Google’s Android O developer previews.
The standout feature, though, is the addition of notification dots. These are used on Android O to indicate on the homescreen which apps have active notifications, and on Nova, they perform the same function. The implementation is basically the same, but they don’t allow users to use App Shortcuts to see what that notification is. I’d bet, though, that that functionality is on its way.
For now, it does seem like notification dots are limited to users who have Nova Launcher Prime. The beta also includes a new search bar style which is rounded, a nice addition.
