The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has been leaking for a couple of months now and for those of you following along the wait is almost over. Starting tomorrow August 8th preorders for the S8 Active will be available from AT&T. The S8 Active for those that don’t know, is Samsung’s latest and greatest flagship internals combined with super durable body and extra large battery. How durable is the Samsung S8 Active? Well, it’s shock, shatter, water, and dust resistant. That’s one rugged phone for any active or clumsy users out there and definitely lives up to the name.
The specs are largely the same for the S8 Active as the S8 with some key differences. It features a 5.8-inch 2960×1440 18.5:9 Super AMOLED screen with the key difference being the shatter resistant display minus the curved edges from the S8. The other major difference is the body of the phone that makes it IP68 plus MIL-STD-810G compliant with a huge 4000mAh battery. This means it will be thicker and chunkier but it will give you even better battery life for using outdoors and can take quite a beating.
Besides that, it includes the same basic internals of the S8 such as the Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage expandable up to 256GB with microSD, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, fast wireless charging, and comes with Android Nougat. The rear facing camera is the same 12MP f/1.7 found in the S8 and so is the front facing is an 8MP f/1.7 with auto focus.
The Samsung S8 Active also comes with the Activity Zone app giving you access to a barometer, compass, stopwatch, and flashlight along with Samsung’s Bixby smart assistant. Plus with VoLTE on AT&T you get features such as NumberSync, WiFI Calling, HD Voice, Video Calling, Advanced Messaging, and Enhanced Push-to-Talk.
Tomorrow you’ll be able to pick one up for yourself in Meteor Gray or Titanium Gold using some of these special offers from AT&T. First off, if you buy any S8 model including the Active you can receive a credit for $750 for another S8 model when you add a new line on AT&T Next and add DIRECTV.
