For those that missed it, Google has an event on October 4th to announce their next generation of Pixel phones. What we haven’t quite known for sure it whether this event would also have other announcements to be revealed. There has been a long-standing rumor that Google was working on an Amazon Echo Dot competitor and our friends over at DroidLife seem to have an exclusive leak: this is the Google Home Mini.

Their information doesn’t tell us a lot, but I’m not sure it’s a long story either. The pricing is reported to be $49 and there are 3 colors in the leak: Chalk, Coral, and Charcoal. The overall design looks nice with the same two-toned fabric meets plastic as the full-size Google Home. Other notables are that the photos point towards the device being wired, although I will be holding out hope that there’s wire-free potential to not be tether to an outlet.

This new information adds some added appeal to the October event. It’s good to see that Google continues to invest in Home and the Assistant platform for hands-free interactions. Personally, I can’t wait to have these all over my house for stylish Chromecast Audio devices.
