AT&T is continuing to expand their 5G Evolution network with Minneapolis, home of the next Super Bowl, in their sights. They are planning to have it up and running in the coming months providing parts of the city with super fast 5G speeds by gameday. Minneapolis is only one of twenty cities AT&T has plans of expanding 5G Evolution to so far. Parts of Austin, TX and Indianapolis, IN began enjoying the benefits of the 5G evolution network earlier this year.

These benefits include updated towers with LTE Advanced features such as 256 QAM, 4×4 MIMO, and 3-way carrier aggregation. Using these technologies and other upgrades working together it provides enhanced speed and reliability for AT&T customers. In order to take advantage of these technologies, you’ll also need a phone compatible with them such as the LG V30, Moto Z2 Force, Samsung Note8, and the Samsung S8 models. With one of these supported phones and the proper network, you’ll be able to experience blazing fast speeds.

Along with upgrading downtown Minneapolis, AT&T is also upgrading the DAS (Distributed Antenna System) at the stadium. It now boasts more than 800 antennas and over 150% increased LTE capacity with enough power to provide coverage to the entire city of Minneapolis. This should help prevent the crowded stadium from becoming overloaded on one of the biggest sporting nights of the year.
